Denying Disabled iSkibike Riders Access
to Ski Lifts and Runs Is Against the Law
Federal and State laws ban discrimination against persons with disabilities. These laws forbid public ski resorts from restricting or banning ski bikes when used by persons with disabilities.
Leashes
The manufacturer of iSkibike, Shroombob LLC, strongly recommends:
Leashes are straps connecting the ski bike rider to the ski bike, or the ski bike to the chairlift. They are intended to be a safety device to prevent runaway ski bikes and to prevent ski bikes from falling off the chairlift. In reality, leashes create an immediate risk of personal injury to the rider should they get snagged on the chairlift, or by forcefully pulling the iSkibike onto the rider during a fall.
An iSkibike won't run away down the slopes without a rider and the rider sits on the bike on the chairlift so it won't fall. Skiing and ski-biking are inherently dangerous. This risk is minimized by NOT using a leash with the iSkibike under any circumstances.
- DO NOT attach a strap or leash between the iSkibike and its rider while skiing downhill.
- DO NOT attach a strap or leash between the iSkibike and a ski lift chair or rider while riding the chairlift.
